You, Ruby Brunton

In poetry, Ruby Brunton on July 20, 2011 at 8:24 am

You are everywhere
And nowhere
You are so elusive
But I can reach out and touch you
When I do – you pull away!
I must play the aloof
if I want you to stay.

You were with my this morning
And I woke with a smile
That lasted all day…
When I think of you,
My whole body tingles.

People on the tram think I’m a crazed loon
Singing to myself a little tune
Little do they know
It’s only you I’m singing to.

If you ever leave me again,
I don’t know how I’d survive.
For the rest of my life babe,
I want you by my side.
